Berlin-headquartered Legal OS has raised $2.2 million in a seed funding round led by HV Holtzbrinck Ventures and joined by existing backer Speedinvest, alongside a number of German entrepreneurs.
The one-year-old company is on a mission to digitise the legal sector with a code-based, machine-readable library, to enable the automation of contract workflows, smart contracts and other legal agreements and their integration into CRM and other enterprise apps.
"At Legal OS, our focus is on reinventing the building blocks of law, legal content. If we make that computable, the potential of what law can become is cracked wide open, and we can envision a rapid, unprecedented digitisation of the entire sector", commented Lilian Breidenbach, co-founder of Legal OS.
With the fresh capital, the startup aims to scale its library of code-based content to ultimately provide a comprehensive database of German law by the end of 2020.
