Berlin-based startup Careship has raised $4 million from Spark Capital for its platform to find home caregivers for the elderly.

The platform uses a matchmaking algorithm to find qualified caregivers for seniors. Careship also helps to coordinate logistics and insurance for the arrangement. The startup will benefit from new healthcare reform in Germany, which provides €13.7 billion in government funds for caregiving services.

“I’m inspired by this team and think their mission to use technology to digitize this market to bring prices down and simplify the process for families is a worthy one that addresses an urgent need," said Alex Finkelstein, the lead investor with Spark Capital, as reported by TechCrunch.
