Biotech news site Labiotech.eu raises seed round for new content and events

Labiotech.eu, a Berlin-based biotech news site, has announced a new funding round led by WestTech Ventures. No specific figure for the “6-figure seed-round” was confirmed.

The round also included five angel investors in Sven Fund, Bertrand Landel, Simon Bungers, Michel Lurquin, and Adveris.

The news site was founded originally in France by Philip Hemme and Joachim Eeckhout before relocating to Berlin in 2014 to spread its focus Europe-wide. The startup says it is becoming the leading media for biotech industry news in Europe and reached 25,000 unique visitors last November.

The seed funding will be used by Labiotech.eu to enhance its site and content production as well as organising its first conference, Labiotech Refresh, in Berlin in May.

“This is a very exciting time for our start-up, and will help us furthermore change how people get informed about the exciting field of biotech in Europe,” said Philip Hemme and Joachim Eeckhout in a statement.
