Accel Partners-backed Lightspeed, a Canadian company that provides more than 26,000 retailers and restaurateurs with a mobile POS and commerce platform, has acquired Amsterdam-based e-commerce specialist SEOshop for an undisclosed sum (via StartupJuncture).

Lightspeed says the combination with SEOshop will enable merchants to offer "a unified in-store and online omnichannel customer experience". SEOshop currently serves more than 8,000 online merchants including Philips Lighting, Heineken and the Van Gogh Museum.

The Dutch e-commerce firm was backed by local VC firm HenQ, which recently launched a new €50 million fund.

SEOshop CEO Ruud Stelder will join the Lightspeed leadership team as Director of Global eCommerce Revenue, and CTO Dennis Cuijpers will become Lightspeed’s Director of eCommerce Development and Architecture. Starting today, Lightspeed will introduce SEOshop technology, branded as Lightspeed eCom, in the UK and North America.

Lightspeed earlier went shopping in Belgium, picking up POSIOS in an acquisition a little over a year ago. It is able to make more of these acquisitions after raising a $61 million round of funding last September.
