PastBook raises $2 million to bring instant photobooks global

Instant photobook maker PastBook has raised $2 million through a convertible note and a follow-up investment led by Vortex Capital Partners with participation from several other entrepreneurs.

Based in Amsterdam, PastBook is an online photobook creation service that allows users to print their Facebook and Instagram images into a photo book with the best photos chosen through algorithm automatically.

The new funds will be invested into internationalising and further marketing its service as 80% of its customer base is in the US. The company has inked a partnership with photobook printers RPI, which has facilities in the US and Europe. It has similar partnerships in Oceania to reduce shipping times.

According to CEO Stefano Cutello, the startup has tapped into an unserved segment: “people who always wanted to have a photo book but never found the time to make one.”

“With the additional resources now at our disposal, we can go full-steam in developing solutions that cater to their needs,” he added.
