SoundCloud loses its head of engineering to Scout24

Online audio platform SoundCloud has lost its senior vice president of engineering, Richard Durnall, to freshly public Scout24. Durnall joined the German online classifieds giant earlier this month in a newly created capacity as CTO for the group, reporting to CEO Gregory Ellis, we've learned.

Previously, Richard was CTO for the REA Group ( and a Principal Consultant for ThoughtWorks, a global technology consultancy. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was only with SoundCloud for about a year.

Scout24 recently started listing its shares on the Frankfurt stock market, giving it a market value of around €3.2 billion ($3.6 billion). To know how SoundCloud is doing, meanwhile, look no further than this excellent recent Bloomberg profile on the Berlin-based startup.
