Swiss Post to invest in robotics, ecommerce, and mobility startups

Switzerland’s national postal service Swiss Post has announced its plans to invest in startups in collaboration with online investment platform investiere.ch.

So far Swiss Post has invested in robotics startup, Starship, which is building autonomous delivery robots. Swiss Post has funded the startup to explore possible autonomous delivery solutions that it can employ. Investiere.ch has not invested in Starship but advised on the deal.

Swiss Post said in a statement that it is seeking startups in other spaces like ecommerce, mobility, digital financial services, digital trust, cross-channel communication, business process outsourcing, and sales, where it will take a minority stake.

The postal service did not comment on how much it will be investing in these companies.

“Swiss Post wants to actively exploit new technologies or business models that are emerging as a result of digitization,” said Claudia Pletscher, head of development and innovation at Swiss Post. “To do so, we invest early in start-ups, among other things.”
