Social analytics firm Talkwalker acquired by Marlin Equity Partners

Talkwalker, a Luxembourgish AI and analytics company, has been acquired by Marlin Equity Partners, a private equity firm from California. No figures were disclosed.

The company’s founders and management will continue in their roles to grow the company with the aid of Marlin.

Talkwalker’s AI software is used by brands to analyse and collect data from online and social media sources to vet their communications and reputation. It currently has over a thousand clients in the PR and marketing industry.

“Our focus on AI-powered features, global expansion and strategic acquisitions should provide our clients with a major competitive edge and ensures that they have access to the best technology on the market to protect, measure and promote their brands worldwide,” said Robert Glaesener, CEO of Talkwalker.

It plans to employ 100 new staff across its offices in Luxembourg, Frankfurt, New York, and San Francisco, as well as improve numerous functions in its technology.

“The social media analytics market is continuing to experience significant tailwinds as a rising number of users adopt social media and an increased share of advertising spend shifts towards social media platforms,” said Shawn McMorran, partner at Marlin, which has more than $6.7 billion in capital under management.

TalkWalker raised €5 million last year from Main Mezzanine Capital.
