Vienna, Austria-based indoo.rs, a venture capital-backed startup that - you guessed it - builds indoor navigation technology, has made a demo app for Google Glass that allows for navigation and positioning inside buildings.
As you can see in the video below, the company has built an experimental app that can give Google Glass wearers a visual way to navigate indoors, being showed off inside its own offices in Austria.
No word on when the app will be released from its R&D cage in the indoo.rs labs, but we'd be thrilled to see this get used in the real world.
To determine a user’s location inside premises, the startup’s mobile technology combines available signals from the device sensors (including accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and compass) with ambient electromagnetic signals such as Wi-Fi, geomagnetic fields and Bluetooth.
You can see how the Google Glass app could come in might handy in places like airports, shopping malls, convention centres and for people who live in atypically large mansions.
