French startup accelerator and coworking space provider NUMA raises €3 million to expand

Paris-based startup accelerator and innovator community NUMA has raised €3 million from MAIF Avenir, a brand new investment vehicle from the MAIF Group (a massive French insurance company).

Formerly known as Silicon Sentier, NUMA recently also raised €1 million in crowdfunding from over 300 investors. Its employees are also shareholders, and also joining the cap table are companies like Roland Berger, Adeo and Leroy Merlin.

NUMA is a startup accelerator (see: Sprint), but also more than that: it also dabbles in corporate innovation programs, coworking space and events organisation, among other services.

The fresh cash should enable NUMA to realise its plans of building a international 'innovation network' by 2019 and 'export' its model to 15 additional ecosystems across the globe. The company has already expanded to Moscow and India (Bangalore) in recent times.

In a press release, NUMA says it has accelerated 82 startups to date, with €60 million in follow-on funding raised and €50 million worth of exits to date. Some notable startups in the NUMA stable are Unique Sound, Sketchfab, Deepomatic, Lima and Infinit.
