Now that we're back from the Web Summit in Dublin, an event that just seems to be growing by leaps and bounds every year, we'll be posting a number of video interviews with some of Europe's leading entrepreneurs and investors in the next few days and weeks.
First of all, however, I wanted to highlight one spontaneous interview I did yesterday with Jaime Jorge, co-founder of Portuguese-British startup Codacy, moments after his company won the Web Summit's pitching competition in the 'Beta' category.
This year's startup competition saw over 1,500 entries from across the globe, and judges included the likes of Y Combinator partner Justin Kan, Sequoia Capital's Alfred Lin and Evernote CEO Phil Libin.
Codacy is an automated code review tool that allows developers to save time and frustration, and improve code quality with analytics on every commit.
Backed by Faber Ventures, Seedcamp and Espirito Santo Ventures, Codacy serves over 3,000 developers worldwide, ranging from individual freelancers to Fortune 500 companies.
Chosen from a shortlist of 200 finalists, the startup won 10,000 euros in cash and a trip to Atlanta, USA, where it will meet with (competition sponsor) Coca-Cola executives.
PS: UK company BaseStone, with its collaboration tool for the construction industry, emerged victorious in the Alpha category of Web Summit's PITCH competition.
