Finland-based gaming studio Traplight, which developed the Big Bang Racing mobile game, has raised $2.7 million. The round was led by Korea Investment Partners with participation from previous investors Sunstone Capital and Finnvera, as well as angel investor Shukri Shammas. This latest round increases Traplight’s total funding to $5 million.
Traplight specializes in bringing user-generated content to mobile games, and launched its first game Big Bang Racing in July 2016 with some success. The game now has over 7.3 million levels created by the players.
The company plans to use the new funding to expand its team.
“We are taking all the learnings from our ‘first born’, and putting them to use with the new projects," said Traplight’s CEO Riku Rakkola in a statement. "The games we create explore the different aspects of user creativity, and harness that creativity into super engaging gameplay. Traplight’s games keep on breaking and bending the boundaries of what we think is possible on the mobile platform,”
