German ridesharing startup CleverShuttle secures investment from Daimler

CleverShuttle, a German on-demand ridesharing startup, has received an undisclosed investment from Daimler Buses and its subsidiary EvoBus.

CleverShuttle, based in Berlin, develops on-demand transport solutions for booking shuttles where passengers travelling in a similar direction pool together for one vehicle. The app determines the fastest and cheapest routes for all the passengers. It currently operates in Berlin, Munich, and Leipzig with tentative plans for Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dresden, and Stuttgart later this year. The startup plans to build its services in rural areas as well.

“Our software has proven to work well. We have already completed over 500,000 passenger kilometres, successfully processed thousands of use cases with our software. Yet we constantly continue to learn,” commented Bruno Ginnuth, CEO of CleverShuttle.

“Our on-demand ridesharing platform and proven algorithm allow even existing transport systems to be seamlessly updated to include ridesharing options,” he added.

Alongside the investment news, Christiane Arnscheidt has joined CleverShuttle as managing director, bringing her background in ecommerce and retail to the table. She will help support the startup’s executive team in its growth plans.

Now the mobility sector and especially the OEMs are leading the way to face a fundamental transformation,” she said. “I am convinced that in the near future, we will no longer purchase cars but mobility.
