Swedish digital health platform Doctrin raises €10 million Series A round

Stockholm-based health tech startup Doctrin has raised €10 million in a Series A round led by Swedish healthcare provider Capio and HealthCap with participation from Inbox Capital and Norrsken Foundation.

The Swedish company develops a platform for healthcare providers to manage and follow up with patients by triaging and monitoring patients’ digital medical history. The patient can enter their symptoms via the app, which will advise on further treatment or if a face-to-face with a doctor is more appropriate.

“We have seen that our solutions really work. Our next step is to develop transformative AI-systems to analyse medical images, text and data,” said Magnus Liungman, CEO of Doctrin. “This means that health care providers and patients can get recommendations on the kind of care needed, level of urgency as well as diagnosis and treatment.”

It will use the new funds for further development of its AI features and plans to expand internationally. Capio is currently using Doctrin with 750,000 patients in 83 primary care units in Sweden.

“This collaboration is one of our most important initiatives to improve the health care for our patients through a unique combination of digital services and the physical care provided by Capio,” said Thomas Berglund, group CEO of Capio.

Digital health tools that use AI to help patients and healthcare providers triage and manage patients have become much more common of late, with Sweden’s Min Doktor and the UK’s Babylon Health all raising significant rounds.
