Dutch cleantech startup ViriCiti raises €6.25 million

Amsterdam-founded bus fleet management startup ViriCiti has raised a funding round of €6.25 million from Energy impact Partners (EIP), Mainport Innovation Fund II (MIF II), and an undisclosed investor. The company is planning to use the capital injection to expand into the North American markets.

Founded in 2015, ViriCiti is a telematics platform for electric and mixed bus fleets. It provides insight into the status of the vehicles and monitors the charging infrastructure. The system allows to charge the vehicles at the right time and avoid peak demand fees.

The company claims to be serving “over 50% of the electric bus market” in Europe and the US. ViriCiti runs an office in South Carolina, which serves customers including Stanford University, New York City Transit, Toronto Transit Commission, and a mysterious “large technology company in Silicon Valley that placed an order for 500 systems.”
