Google partners with Startup Wise Guys to support the growing Baltic startup ecosystem(s)

tech.eu's not exactly alone in keeping a close eye on the Baltics, where an ever-increasing amount of interesting solid tech businesses are being born. Cue Google setting up a new partnership with the leading startup accelerator in the region, Startup Wise Guys, to support the burgeoning ecosystem(s).

Founded back in 2012, Startup Wise Guys (SWG) is a B2B SaaS, fintech and cybersecurity accelerator and overall one of the most active early-stage investors in the Baltics, Nordics and CEE with investments in more than 145 startups to date. Check out our recent interview with 'El Patron' of SWG, Cristobal Alonso, for more information on them.

Today, SWG is announcing that it has become an official partner for Google Developers Launchpad in the Baltics, underscoring the tech behemoth's interest in keeping track of startup activity in the region, which will translate into them helping the accelerator with things like technical training, product credits, and supplying expert mentors.

It's not the first partnership of its kind in Europe - Google has agreements in place with organisations in Belarus, Romania and Serbia already - but it's an interesting development nonetheless.

The partnership will give Startup Wise Guys access to a group of the world’s top accelerators, enabling it to share information and leverage joint resources. Startup Wise Guys will also gain access to Google’s global network and get "insights from the company’s Silicon Valley-based startup programs, and twenty years’ worth of Google research and best practice insights on building businesses, products, and teams at massive scale".

Ultimately, the goal of the collaboration is to help SWG's startup portfolio, which includes the likes of VitalFields, Rebelroam, EstateGuru, Callpage, Publishdrive and Stepshot, to scale up their businesses with a little help from Google. To give one example, existing and future Startup Wise Guys portfolio companies will be eligible for up to $100,000 in Google Cloud Credits, which particularly in smaller ecosystems in Europe can go a long way.

"We are thrilled to work with Startup Wise Guys to grow the Baltic startup ecosystem. The 'Powered by Google Developers Launchpad' program is about empowering startup ecosystems around the world through top accelerators, and helping them leverage each other for insights and resource sharing," commented Vytautas Kubilius, Country Manager at Google in Baltics.
