Meet these 12 incredible women advancing artificial intelligence tech in Europe

(Editor's note: this is a guest post by Moojan Asghari, co-founder of non-profit Women in AI and a globally recognised advocate for gender diversity and women empowerment.)

Within the context of digitization, we keep hearing a lot about artificial intelligence (AI) and how it is transforming virtually every industry and function. But while this technology expands in a wide range of industries, there is still a considerable gender diversity gap within this field.

This gap is just as wide in research and academics as it is in the technology industry. According to a recent study by the World Economic Forum and LinkedIn, only 22% of jobs in artificial intelligence are held by women, with even fewer holding senior roles. So, what can we do to close this gap?

For me, one of the first steps to bridge the gender gap in AI is through awareness creation.

That is also, why I co-founded the nonprofit do-tank Women in AI (WAI) in 2016 together with Hanan Salam and Caroline Lair to increase participation and representation of women in AI. At WAI, we are bringing empowerment, knowledge, and active collaboration via education, support for female founders via accelerate and awards programs, research, blogging, and technical events.

One of our momentous events is the annual Women in AI Global Summit, which will take place on September 8. More than 100 speakers will attend the Summit speaking about various emerging issues in the context of AI. It is a full-day event with the kick-off in Australia, Asia then moving to Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

We are expecting over 3,000 participants from all over the world.

If you want to be part of this amazing virtual event, you would have to register here, where you can also access the event schedule.
