Isar Aerospace, a Munich-based satellite launching startup, has secured €75 million in Series B financing. The round was led by Lakestar, with support from previous backers Earlybird Venture Capital and Vsquared Ventures. Earlybird remains Isar Aerospace's largest institutional investor. The startup was founded in 2018 with the aim of developing the first German launch vehicle to transport satellites, as well as satellite constellations, cost-efficiently and flexibly into the low Earth orbit (LEO). Small and medium-sized satellites are used in many ways, ranging from high-speed internet coverage and autonomous driving to industrial connectivity and smart farming. “That is why we need a competitive space industry in Europe if we do not want to witness the next technological leaps as a spectator," says Hendrik Brandis, co-founding partner of Earlybird.
