Berlin-based supplier insights and discovery platform scoutbee has acquired (now former) Voi Chief Technology Officer Mikael Söderberg. Söderberg will remain on in a senior advisor role with Voi, but move from Stockholm to Berlin as he joins scoutbee as Chief Product and Technology Officer.
"It feels like the right time once again to make a hands on, material difference to another rapid growth, high potential company," comments Söderberg.
2020 wasn’t easy on supply chains, with COVID-19 and Brexit pushing organisations to both prioritise market visibility and supplier network resilience. Scoutbee, which uses AI to power supplier data collection, strengthen supply chain decisions and maximise collaboration saw a banner year.
Following their Series-B round in January of 2020, the platform saw a 500% increase in sourcing cases in Q1 when compared to the year before. The acquisition of Söderberg extends the firm’s commitment to further development of the platform.
"scoutbee is assembling impressive product and technology teams to accelerate our product development. Procurement is undergoing a fundamental transformation which will accelerate even faster post-COVID. scoutbee is perfectly positioned to become the world's most accessible market and supplier data ecosystem, connecting millions of suppliers to billions in spend," adds Söderberg.
scoutbee’s current focus is on expanding R&D efforts that aid organisations in consolidating and enriching their existing supplier data via Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). These developments are expected to provide end-to-end analytics that will transform supply challenges into supply opportunities.
“As a data-driven engineer at heart, I have a real affinity for scoutbee as an application of AI. The talented team has made remarkable strides in recent years, has an evangelical user base and is fast establishing a global industry standard for B2B supply-demand matchmaking,” comments Söderberg.
Mikael Söderberg will join scoutbee’s recently acquired Director of Platform Engineering Sören Blom, formerly with e-commerce giant Zalando, and Director of Data Nischal Padmanabha formerly of SAP. This adds on to the team’s hire in Q4 2020 of Director of Engineering Michael Lindqvist, formerly of Native Instruments and N26.
Founded in 2015, scoutbee has raised $76 million to date from investors including Atomico, Lakestar, Next47, Toba Capital, HV Holtzbrinck Ventures and 42CAP.
