Valencia, Spain-based tech startup INDYA has raised more than €1 million from a number of well-known athletes to follow up an earlier €200,000 seed round and boost the company's growth.

Retired football star Iker Casillas joined the round, alongside former NBA player Pau Gasol, professional basketball player Rodolfo "Rudy" Fernández, Grand Prix motorcycle racers Aleix Espargaró and Álex Rins, abd Brazilian footballer André Ramalho. The round was led by Draper B1, with sports tech accelerator SportBoost, Bankinter and Wayra participating.

INDYA says it will use the fresh cash to ramp up hiring, international expansion and development of its core app, which enables users to track and plan their nutrition.

“The entry of Iker Casillas and Rudy Fernández is a fundamental boost for us. Having the knowledge of elite athletes like them and their support means that the end user of our app has access to technology and information until now only available to a few”, commented Javier Guerrero, CEO of INDYA.
