ColibriTD secures €4M to scale its quantum simulation platform

French quantum software company ColibriTD has raised €4 million in seed funding to further develop its multiphysics simulation technology and expand internationally. The round was led by Earlybird Venture Capital, with participation from SymbiaVC and Medin VC, following a previous €1 million pre-seed investment from Earlybird.

Founded in 2019 by Laurent Guiraud and Hacène Goudjil, ColibriTD develops quantum software for solving complex simulation problems across industries including aerospace, defence, semiconductors, energy, automotive and finance.

At the core of its technology is H-DES, or Hybrid Differential Equation Solver, a proprietary variational quantum algorithm designed to solve partial differential equations (PDEs). These equations are widely used in multiphysics simulations to model processes including fluid dynamics, material deformation, electromagnetic behaviour and financial risk.

The company is focused on applying quantum computing to industrial simulation workloads that can require substantial classical computing resources. Its software is designed to provide a layer between quantum hardware and the engineering and scientific applications used by industrial customers. The platform is hardware-agnostic, allowing it to operate across quantum computing systems from different providers.

ColibriTD has completed seven co-development projects across six sectors, including defence and aerospace, space and climate science, semiconductor design, nuclear energy, automotive engineering and quantitative finance. Applications have included radio-frequency design and combustion modelling for propulsion systems, alongside other simulation-intensive engineering and scientific workloads.

The new funding will be used for further research and development of H-DES and to recruit quantum researchers and engineers to support customer projects. ColibriTD also plans to expand its hardware, academic and industrial partnerships and grow internationally as it prepares to scale its platform.
