ABA English, an online language learning platform, has raised $12 million in funding from Kennet Partners and Nauta Capital.
The Barcelona e-learning company provides video-based English language lessons via mobile and web. It has 10 million users globally and counts a number of big firms among its client base, including Ikea and Kraft Foods.
ABA English is currently available in over 170 countries and is setting its sights on further internationalisation, namely in China and Turkey. Earlier this month it signed an agreement with Cambridge English Language Assessment that certifies its lessons.
“Kennet’s investment will take us to the next level, not only by encouraging consumers to learn English but also by helping us to become the key training partner for organizations around the world,” said Javier Figarola, CEO of ABA English.
“We have been extremely impressed with the way in which ABA English has been able to grow rapidly despite limited capital resources,” said Hillel Zidel, managing director of Kennet Partners. “Its core users are strongly engaged with the platform, a testament to the quality of ABA’s product and the tangible benefits that learning English brings to its customers.”
Zidel will be joining the board at ABA English. Former CEO of Trovit Iñaki Ecenarro, another investor in the company, is also joining the company’s board.
