Aircall, a Paris startup that builds cloud-based call centre software, has raised $8 million in a Series A round led by Balderton Capital with participation from FJLabs.
This new round of funds will be used to enhance the company’s international growth, particularly in the US where it has a New York office. It currently has close to 2,000 customers globally and intends to double its workforce in the next year.
Aircall’s solution allows customers to build their own phone support network in their browser.
“The phone is one of the only communication channels that hasn’t really got re-defined yet,” said Olivier Pailhès, CEO. “We believe that we can create a phone system that is entirely self-service, built to be multiplayer and connected to all other business workflows.”
Aircall launched in 2014 and previously raised $2.75 from Balderton Capital in January of this year following a $800,000 round from eFounders, NewFund and several business angels.
“We are delighted to lead a second round of funding into Aircall. Since our first investment, the company has achieved impressive growth, and has opened its first office in New York,” added Bernard Liautaud, managing partner at Balderton Capital. “Olivier and his team have ambitious plans to transform business telephony and it is pleasure for me and Balderton Capital to be part of this exciting journey.”
