Sovera Security secures €535K from EIFO to build sovereign AI cybersecurity
Danish cybersecurity company Sovera Security has secured €535,000 (4 million DKK) from the Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO).
As geopolitical tensions rise, new regulation and the rapid adoption of AI reshape the cybersecurity landscape, European organisations are placing greater focus on how their critical systems and data are protected.
Europe’s cybersecurity landscape is also shaped by its continued dependence on non-European providers for several strategic digital technologies. This is increasing the focus on digital resilience, supply chains, and European control, alongside new regulatory requirements and the growing use of AI.
For European organisations, the question is therefore no longer only how AI can improve cybersecurity, but also where sensitive data is processed, how AI-driven decisions are made and who ultimately controls the technology.
Founded by former LogPoint founder Søren Laustrup, Sovera Security develops cybersecurity solutions designed to help organisations detect and respond to cyber threats while maintaining control over data, infrastructure and critical security decisions.
Sovera operates its own data centre, where it runs the GPUs powering its AI-native security platform.

The company combines AI and automation with human expertise, while focusing on data and operational sovereignty and keeping critical security decisions under human control. It works with critical infrastructure operators and mid-to-large enterprises where resilience, compliance, secure data handling, and governance of security operations are essential.

According to Søren Laustrup, CEO and founder of Sovera Security, cybersecurity is undergoing a major technological transformation:

“AI will become fundamental to security operations, but organisations also need to know where their data goes, how AI is used and who ultimately controls critical security decisions.

We believe Europe needs its own security solutions built around those requirements. With EIFO’s backing, we can accelerate that ambition.”

The financing will further develop Sovera’s AI capabilities and infrastructure, expand the organisation, and strengthen its go-to-market presence across Denmark, the Nordics, and the wider European market.
EIFO views the financing as an opportunity to support the development of Danish technology in an area of growing strategic importance.
"Denmark has strong foundations for building world-class cybersecurity companies, and Sovera is a compelling example of a company with both the ambition and capability to compete internationally. We see significant potential in the company's technology, team and growth journey, and this financing will help strengthen its position as it expands across the Nordics and the wider European market," says  Lars Horsholt Jensen, Head of SME Startup & Innovation.
