It's not exactly the sexiest of markets, but Limerick, Ireland-based AMCS has for more than a decade done a stellar job building solid software solutions for the waste, recycling and resource industry.
The company offers an end-to-end suite of software and vehicle tech for industry stakeholders to manage critical operational and business management processes. According to AMCS, its flagship software solutions manage over €5 billion of customer’s revenue, 30,000 vehicles and 3,000 sites.
The company, which was founded in 2003 and just gave its brand a huge make-over, is today announcing that it has raised €45 million in funding in a round led by New York-based investment firm Insight Venture Partners, with participation from the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund.
AMCS says it intends to use the fresh cash to expand globally, more specifically through 'strategic acquisitions' in its core markets (the UK, Nordics and Benelux area) and central Europe. There's precedent for that: AMCS previously acquired US market leader PC Scale and Denmark-based route planning and optimisation systems provider Transvision.
The company currently employs close to 300 employees across 9 offices and boasts customers in 19 countries across the globe.
