Hubert Burda Media has become the majority shareholder in the Berlin-based social enterprise Good Hood, which operates Germany’s largest social network for neighbours, Burda previously invested, leading a €16 million Series A round in July 2016, and has now put in another double-digit million investment, replacing multiple investors in the process.

The German platform, which is very similar to English-language competitor Nextdoor, has over 1.6 million users in about 8,000 neighbourhoods. Good Hood’s founders will hold on to some shares and enter new roles. Till Behnke and Ina Remmers will steer the company as managing directors, while Christian Vollmann becomes chairman of the advisory board. 

Other remaining investors include Deutsche Tele Medien, Nordwest-Zeitung Verlagsgesellschaft and Pd ventures, the venture arm of the Pressedruck Augsburg media group.
