Data governance tech scale-up Collibra acquires Czech SaaS startup SQLdep

Not long after raising $100 million at a $1 billion+ valuation, Belgium/US-based data governance technology company Collibra is today announcing the acquisition of SQLdep, a Prague-based SaaS provider of automated data lineage.

The deal will help Collibra customers uncover faster and deeper insights from their data, the company says. SQLdep and Collibra announced a partnership a year ago that led to this acquisition.

SQLdep essentially automates the discovery and visualisation of technical data lineage and enables organisations to better capture context around data, understand data quality, support compliance initiatives and increase trust.

"We built SQLdep to automate and simplify the discovery of data lineage and help companies better capture the context around their data, comply with regulations, and innovate their technology stack," said Martin Masarik, CEO of SQLdep. "Now, together with Collibra, our capabilities will allow business users to quickly surface insights by pinpointing the optimal data sets using data sourced from anywhere in the enterprise."

SQLdep's automated data lineage functionality will complement Collibra Catalog and Collibra’s privacy offerings.

For Collibra, it's the first disclosed acquisition in the company's history.
