London-based growth marketplace Connectd has raised $1 million in a seed funding round. The platform uses data-driven ‘smart matching technology’ to directly connect startups with investors and non-executive directors, board advisors, and mentors. The new funding is expected to fuel recruitment efforts, as the company plans for international expansion.
Launched in early 2020, Connectd was co-founded by Roei Samuel and Sam Luckett, and has seen just shy of 100 startups receive funding via the platform, including a $2.6 million Series A round earlier this year. Notable VCs to be found using Connectd include 8Roads, Octopus, Piton Capital, and Second City Ventures, and over 1,000 angel investors and family offices and advisors.
Operating on a subscription model, Connectd has seen a continual 15% growth rate month-over-month since launch, and grown to a team of 23.
“If you don’t move in traditional circles, it can be very difficult to get access to the capital and outside expertise needed to rapidly scale the business. Similarly, investors can waste hours hopelessly searching for the right opportunity. We see it differently, which is why Connectd brings people together based on what they know, not who they know,” commented Samuel.
The funding round was led by Nigel Wray, with LiFE Ventures, Toni Nijm of Yobi Partners, and Steve Castle of ABC Investors participating.
