London’s investment platform for consumers wishing to have a positive impact on climate change, Clim8 has secured up to £2 million from Channel 4 Ventures, the UK’s largest “media for equity” fund. As you might have already guessed, Clim8 is trading equity in the company for the high-profile brand awareness that UK broadcaster Channel 4 can offer.
“Purpose is at the heart of Channel 4’s vision so we’re delighted to invest in this ambitious sustainable purpose-led business through our innovative media-for-equity model,” comments Channel 4 Ventures’ Vinay Solanki. “Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time and very important to our core young audience so we’re looking forward to supporting Clim8 to help them to achieve their potential of becoming a leading provider of sustainable investments in the UK using our powerful marketing platform.”
Founded in August of 2019 by Duncan Grierson, Clim8 takes all the guesswork out of investing in publicly listed companies and funds that are climate crisis-focused and providing real-world results to real-world problems. Clim8’s core verticals include clean energy, clean technology, smart mobility, clean water, the circular economy, and sustainable food.
The platform has a minimum buy-in of a mere £25, and lets investors run all the way up to £97,000 should they so choose.
Clim8 is also preparing for another crowdfunding drive, which will add to the £9.6 million the company has already collected through two crowdfunding campaigns and a seed investment from 7percent Ventures.
“Sustainable investment represents one of the most powerful ways in which we can all make a positive impact on climate change. And we can do so without compromising on returns. With Channel 4 coming on board as an investor, we have the opportunity to reach a huge audience and achieve our goal,” concludes Grierson.
