Munich-based digital healthcare startup Avi Medical has raised €28.5 million in a Series A round led by Heal Capital and Addition. The round also saw participation from existing investor Picus Capital, Vorwerk Ventures, ID Invest, 3VC, and Claret Capital Partners, as well as numerous business angels, including Daniel Dines (UiPath) and the founders of Flatiron Health, Alasco, Finn.auto, Freeletics, M4Capital, and Inventures. Avi Medical will use the funding to further develop the software aspect of the business as well as accelerate growth plans throughout Germany. To date, the firm has raised €38.5 million.

Founded in 2020 by Vlad Lata, Christoph Baumeister, and Julian Kley, Avi Medical uses data-driven medicine to provide patients and healthcare workers with a streamlined, more modern experience. In addition to three existing physical locations, the firm also offers telemedicine services.

According to a press release, the firm offers patients the groundbreaking ability to, “fill in their medical history form at home on their smartphone instead of in a waiting room”, has revolutionary opening hours of 7am to 8pm, all without a lunch break, and does not differentiate between public and private insured patients.

The firm also reports that they’ve clearly been watching what’s happening in the world, and offers physicians, “state-of-the-art technology support” resulting in a significantly reduced administrative workload, as well as the possibility to communicate with patients from remote working. Add to this a flexible working time model with regulated and plannable working hours, and wow!

“Avi Medical is a pioneer in the field of primary care,” says CEO Vlad Lata. “The vision that drives Chris, Julian and me is to provide primary care that enhances the doctor-patient contact with modern digital capabilities. Not as an end in itself, but to support patient treatment wherever possible in a meaningful way.”
