Israeli 3D imaging company Vayyar raises $45 million in Series C round

Vayyar Imaging has raised $45 million in Series C funding led by Walden Riverwood and ITI with participation from Claltech, Battery Ventures, Bessemer Ventures, Israel Cleantech Ventures, and Amiti.

Yehud-based Vayyar builds sensors that create 3D images of its surroundings in real time but do not use a camera. The company said this makes it ideal in “privacy-sensitive locations”. It covers a diverse range of sectors from medical and elder care to autonomous vehicles and retail. For example, its technology can be used to detect water leaks or in food safety monitoring, according to the company.

“We currently work in collaboration with industry-leading companies to create applications that address some of their toughest challenges. The target of this round is to allow us to grow even faster than before,” said CEO Raviv Melamed.

“Vayyar is growing fast, and we look forward to helping Vayyar impact the automotive and smart home industries in a similar way,” added Lip-Bu Tan, chairman of Walden International.

This Series C round brings its total funding to $79 million. It will invest the capital in building additional products and expand into new industries as well as grow its global team. The company will also be displaying its technology at next month’s CES in Las Vegas.
