From an elaborate tech installation that simulates the experience a bird in flight to a booth promoting innovations on how to deal with death, the Lift Conference—which is going on until tomorrow—in Geneva, Switzerland seemed to be bursting of digital and entrepreneurial projects of all stripes from all corners of the globe.

Also held during Lift was Seedstars World, a startup competition that looks beyond Silicon Valley and Europe, and focuses on emerging markets. was part of a group of journalists invited to attend the Seedstars World Final event that took place yesterday. Essentially, ten entrepreneur finalists—who were either locals from emerging markets or expats now living in these regions—pitched their idea on stage for a chance to win $500,000 in financing. In the end, Salarium, a cloud-based ERP platform startup from the Phillipines, took home the grand prize.
