French photo startup Cheerz acquired by photography giant Cewe for €45 million

German photography company Cewe has acquired French social photo printing startup Cheerz for €45 million.

Cheerz, based in France and founded in 2012, develops mobile-to-print devices where users can print off photo albums, calendar, and magnets direct from their phone. It has raised €6 million in venture funding from IronCapital and Serena Capital.

The acquisition will help Cewe grow its mobile business and strengthen in presence in France and the rest of Southern Europe.

“We are delighted to have found a partner in Cewe who stands for the highest product quality and scalability, thus being in a position to give maximum support to our dynamic growth in France and Southern Europe,” said the cofounders of Cheerz, Antoine Le Conte and Aurélien de Meaux, in a statement. “We wish to grow into a new dimension with a real European champion - quickly, easily and directly.”
