ZenMate, a young Berlin encryption software startup that enables people to safely browse websites and unblock sites from other countries, has raised new funding from Bessemer Venture Partners and prior backers Holtzbrinck Ventures and Project A.

FWIW, this is only Bessemer second investment ever in Germany, according to the Internet security software company. The size of the funding round was not disclosed.

ZenMate recently broke the 25 million download mark and claims customers across 180 countries after self-reportedly launching its premium offering ahead of schedule.

The startup plans to introduce a range of new products in the course of this year, with the help of the additional capital provided by its existing investors, and now Bessemer.
