Don't call it a trend just yet, but don't act too surprised if it should end up becoming one.
Berlin-based early-stage investment firm Point Nine Capital is today announcing the addition of entrepreneur Michael Wolfe to its team as an advisor.
Wolfe, who is based in Silicon Valley, has been around the block a few times as an entrepreneur and startup advisor.
He co-founded Vontu (acquired by Symantec for $350 million), and served as the initial employee and VP of Engineering at CRM service Kana through its IPO in the late 1990s.
Wolfe has also served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Benchmark Capital and lectured Computer Science at Stanford University.
Wolfe will be responsible for supporting and accelerating the growth of Point Nine’s portfolio companies in the United States. This portfolio includes the likes of Delivery Hero, Mention, Brainly, Mister Spex and Madvertise. Point Nine says it got to know Wolfe by working together on two other startups in its portfolio, Contentful and Typeform.
The news of Point Nine's recruitment of Wolfe as a U.S.-based advisor follows in the footsteps of fellow Berlin VC firm Earlybird adding LinkedIn co-founder Konstantin Guericke as its first Silicon Valley-based partner - hence why we're watching if this becomes more of a trend in the future.
