At the LeWeb conference in Paris last week, a big chunk of the last day was reserved for the 'European Forum', a series of sessions on six of Europe’s top ‘startup countries’, which was co-hosted by yours truly.
The LeWeb team has already published all the videos from these and other sessions, so I figured it would be useful to share them here. My post in preparation for the sessions generated quite a lot of discussion, some of it your typical "what about country X" but some of it also actually insightful contributions about the specific opportunities and challenges of each ecosystem that was highlighted.
Now that the panel sessions have ended, this is your opportunity to re-watch them here and comment on what was discussed.
First up is Germany, which was really only about Berlin, perhaps unfortunately so. Moderated by Seedlab's Regine Haschka-Helmer, the panel featured Max Laemmle from Better Payment, Klemens Dreesbach from Berlin Digital Academy and Christian Miele from the German Startup Association.
Second video is about the UK session, moderated by yours truly.
Participants include Eileen Burbidge (Passion Capital), Jan Reichelt (Mendeley), Alex Depledge (Hassle.com) and Teddie Wardi from Dawn Capital.
The third video is the session about the startup nation, Israel, which was moderated by Elevator Fund's Tom Bronfeld. Participants included Valerie Zarka from More Than Digital and Inbal Arieli from Start-Up Nation Central.
Of course, France couldn't be left out. The 'La French Tech' session was moderated by Sam Schechner from the Wall Street Journal and included panel participants such as Nicolas Dufourcq from BPIFrance, Marie Ekeland from France Digitale, Pierre Kosciusco-Morizet from ISAI and Clara Delétraz from Mission French Tech.
Next, the spotlights are put on Russia in a panel moderated by Alex Galitsky from Almaz Capital Partners. Participants included Alexander Lazarev from Maxfield Capital and Kseniya Yolkina from Yandex.
Also worth highlighting, of course, was Sweden. In a conversation with Robert Wentrup from Business Sweden, angel investor Tomas Bennich and Tink's Fredrik Hedberg shared their views.
Hope you enjoy the great discussions and that we will see you next year!
