Incrediblue has raised $1.8 million to "get everyone on a yacht", the Greek startup is announcing today, a little over two years after the "Airbnb for boats" raised $130,000 in seed funding. The fresh round was led by Connect Ventures, with the participation of Seedcamp, Howzat Ventures, Firestartr, as well as existing investor Openfund. Sitar Teli of Connect Ventures will join incrediblue's board of directors.
Incrediblue essentially operates an online marketplace that wants to make yachting holidays accessible to all, and is today relaunching its website to turn that into a reality. From the press release:
"Cost, access, safety, expertise, or just the logistics behind such a unique offering are some of the reasons why this has not happened before. incrediblue is meticulously working on each one of these factors and the little details behind them, to offer for the first time fully customisable yachting holidays with no hidden costs to a much broader audience."
Every yacht booked on incrediblue comes with a certified, handpicked captain who 'knows the ropes', the startup also says. Yachts also come verified by a team of experts; real photos, full profiles and user reviews are available before users book.
Incrediblue currently features 2,000 handpicked yachts across the Mediterranean in Greece, Croatia, Turkey and Spain.
