1) Financial services software provider Misys plans to raise about £500 million ($637 million) in a listing on the London Stock Exchange in what could be the biggest IPO in the UK this year.
2) Some big funding rounds announced this week: €250 million for cloud computing/hosting firm OVH (France), $180 million for Payoneer (Israel), $70 million for GoEuro (Germany), €50 million for Hawkers (Spain), and €54 million in debt and equity funding for iwoca (UK).
3) Facebook is to build its third data center outside the US in Denmark to store and manage the social media giant's growing data, such as photos and videos, a Danish news website reported.
4) IBM plans to pour $200 million into Watson Internet of Things AI business in Munich.
5) Amazon.com is in talks with EU regulators to settle an antitrust probe into how its e-book contracts with publishers may be squeezing out rival distributors.
6) The UK's reputation as one of the leading digital economies in the world and a global tech hub could be at risk from fresh government plans to crack down on foreign workers.
7) EU antitrust regulators plan to order Google to stop paying financial incentives to smartphone makers to pre-install Google Search exclusively on their devices and warned the company of a large fine, an EU document showed.
8) WhatsApp’s data love-in with Facebook probed by Spanish watchdog.
9) Kano is expanding from computers to gadgetry. Launched this week on Kickstarter, the UK startup is introducing a camera, Bluetooth speaker, and pixel grid, with a goal of raising $500,000 to get the $129 kits into production.
10) EyeEm now licenses photos through Adobe Stock’s premium collection.
