Marvel, a design and prototyping platform has raised £4 million in a Series A round led by BGF Ventures. Previous investors Index Ventures, Connect Ventures, InReach Ventures, Andy McLoughlin, and Richard Fearn also participated in the round.
Marvel, founded in 2013 and based in London, is a platform for designing and testing apps. It currently has about one million users with the US and UK being its leading markets. The basic product is free with subscriptions for additional features.
The funding news comes a month after Marvel acquired competitor POP from Taiwan, which gave Marvel some headway in the enterprise and education space. The Series A funds will be used to build out the startup's sales and customer success teams, enhance product development, and expand into new markets.
"Marvel is no longer just about designers and we’re already seeing that everyone from marketing to success is using Marvel to create and collaborating on ideas” said cofounder Murat Mutlu, adding that the POP acquisition has helped the company push its services to more people.
