Berlin’s Native Instruments has acquired LA-based Metapop, a platform for monetising remixes for creators and rights holders. No figures have been disclosed.
Metapop’s proprietary platform helps rights holders find remixes of their content online and devise revenue sharing deals with the creators. Native Instruments makes hardware and software for music production.
Matthew Adell, founder of Metapop and former CEO of online music store Beatport, is joining Native Instruments as chief digital officer overseeing its online product portfolio. Native Instruments was a shareholder in Beatport.
The team will be joining Native Instruments and will operate out of its US office in Los Angeles.
“At Native Instruments we want to inspire and empower music lovers to express themselves, and in a very short time MetaPop has enabled thousands of new producers and remixers to do just that,” said Native Instruments CEO Daniel Haver.
“MetaPop was born from an ambition to redefine the world of remixing music,” commented Adell. “Joining Native Instruments opens up new doors to build on our shared vision, working alongside leading talent and world-class products.”
