1) The European Commission has announced a review of Apple’s acquisition of music discovery service Shazam — agreeing to a request made by several countries to weigh competition concerns.

2) Spotify generated a billion euros ($1.2 billion) in revenue in the third quarter of 2017, according to The Information. That puts it on track for full year revenue of more than four billion euros, up about 40% from 2016.

3) Germany’s BMW has bought out partner Sixt from their joint venture DriveNow, paving the way for a broader car-sharing and driverless taxi alliance with Daimler to compete against the likes of Uber and Lyft.

4) Amazon said on Monday it had settled a long-running dispute with French tax authorities, who have been seeking nearly 200 million euros from the online retail giant.

5) On that note: France and Germany intensified calls on Wednesday for US technology giants to pay more tax in the European Union, with Paris saying the new bill could amount to billions of euros.

6) Cityscoot, the French electric scooter rental startup, has announced a €40 million funding round from RATP Capital Innovation and InVenture Partners alongside previous investors.

7) German food delivery marketplace Delivery Hero has announced a 60% increase year-on-year in revenues globally, reaching €544.2 million for 2017.

8) Amsterdam's SaaS-based core banking software company Ohpen has raised €25 million in a Series C round led by private equity firm Amerborgh.

9) The European Parliament has voted to end barriers to cross-border online shopping. Buyers will be able to shop online in the EU without being blocked or automatically re-routed. The agreement on the geo-blocking regulation stills needs to be formally approved by Council.

10) Berlin-based urban farming startup Infarm has secured a $25 million Series A funding round led by Balderton Capital.
