Icelandic travel planning startup TripCreator raises $8 million

Reykjavík-founded itinerary building platform for travel agencies TripCreator has raised $8 million in funding from “a range of business angels and VC funds.” The company is opening sales offices in London and New York City and plans to move its headquarters to the US later this year.

The company markets its solution to travel professionals, from agencies to bloggers. Using its proprietary algorithms, TripCreator claims to be able to analyse travel itineraries “at incredibly high speed” and make recommendations based hundreds of thousands of points of interest stored in its database. It can also integrate with existing travel inventory.

TripCreator offers white-level and branded solutions and boasts integration capabilities with different third-party APIs, allowing access to all sorts of data. Its dashboard offers in-depth analytics for travel companies with indices including profitability, available inventory, customer loyalty, and more.

Founded in 2013, TripCreator has raised about $13 million in funding, including the current round. The company is headquartered in Reykjavík, Iceland, with an R&D centre in Vilnius, Lithuania.
