Ten years ago, the idea behind Delivery Hero was born, according to the now-publicly listed online food ordering and delivery service provider's Twitter feed.
Fast forward to today and the company is delivering about 31 million orders a month, booking roughly 360 million euros in revenue for the first half of this year - and it expects sales to more than double by the end of 2018.
Now at more than 18,000 employees, its growth was spurred significantly by its December 2016 acquisition of Foodpanda, which was led by then-CEO Ralf Wenzel.
I had the chance to catch up with Wenzel recently on stage at the TOA Conference in Berlin. Now Delivery Hero's Chief Strategy Officer, I had a candid conversation with him about the future of food ordering and consumption. Enjoy:
Also check out my other interview from TOA, with Swedish fintech scale-up Klarna‘s co-founder and CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski.
