Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS), a Scottish-founded agritech startup, has reaped £5.4 million in a funding round led by the US-based S2G Ventures, with participation from AgFunder and Scottish Investment Bank (SIB).
IGS has built a plug-and-play vertical farming solution that it sells to indoor farms. The technology used in IGS's products, according to the company, “has been designed specifically to address some of vertical farming’s biggest challenges, including the cost of power and labour, as well as the inability to produce consistently high-quality produce at scale.”
The company, which opened a vertical farming demo facility in August 2018, plans to use the fresh capital to hire more people across the software development, engineering, robotics and automation teams.
