Italian IoT startup Filo raises €2.5 million to grow sales of its anti-abandonment car seat device

Filo, an Italian internet-of-things startup, has received €2.5 million from LVenture Group, Pi Campus, AI.Pe Invest and some angels. Founded in Rome in 2014, the IoT company wants to make products “that simplify some aspects of our daily life.”

So far the startup has put two devices on the market: Filo Tag, a bluetooth tracker for commonly misplaced objects such as keys and wallets, and Tata Pad, a car seat device that alerts parents if a child has been left in the car. Both devices, which are manufactured in Italy and patented in 30 countries, connect to an app on the user’s smartphone. The new investment will go toward expanding sales of the Tata Pad, which just launched last year. Filo claims the technology has been integrated into some car seat models and attracted partnerships with Vodafone and Italian insurance giant Generali.
