London-based EduMe raises $5 million for remote workforce training platform used by Uber and Deliveroo

London-based workforce training platform EduMe has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by Silicon Valley-based Valo Ventures (the firm’s first European investment), with participation from existing investor Connect Ventures.

Founded in 2016, the company has built a mobile platform aimed at training, informing and engaging ‘deskless’ or mobile employees, which represent about 80 percent of the global workforce. Features include lessons for training, messages for instant broadcasts and surveys to capture feedback, driven by the belief “access to information, and a voice to be heard, helps create a more informed, knowledgeable and engaged workforce.”

It’s not only about the employees; the benefits, of course, need to boost the customer’s bottom line. Valo Ventures says the platform delivers “compelling ROI to employers with benefits like decreased onboarding costs and improved customer experience,” according to Mona ElNaggar, a partner at the firm.

So far EduMe is used in over 30 countries across six continents, by companies such as Uber, Deliveroo and Deloitte. With the new funding, the UK startup hopes to expand the software to new industries.
