London-based digital triage provider eConsult Health has acquired cross-town, NHS doctor-founded friend, video consultation and SMS platform Q Doctor. The combined service will offer a seamless digital solution for GPs and patients and promises to give said GPs some duly deserved downtime via easier patient management and a priority system based on symptoms. The financials of the deal remain undisclosed.
Founded in 2013 by Murray Ellender, eConsult secured £7 million from Gresham House Ventures and Calculus Capital in a Series A raise in October of last year and has provided over 13 million online consultations to date. The platform allows patients to electronically submit their symptoms to the GP and offers 24/7 NHS self-help information.
Q Doctor was founded in 2014 by Chris Whittle and has received a total of £1.5 million in investment from DigitalHealth.London Accelerator in a seed round and Nesta Impact Investments in a Series A round. Q Doctor was the first video platform to gain NHS approval in 2018, and counts nearly 500 GPs on its client roster.
“After nearly two years of successfully partnering with eConsult to deliver our combined service to GP surgeries across the country, this decision was a natural and exciting one - as it gives our customers a much stronger, combined offering,” comments Whittle. “Murray and the team share our core values and our determination to transform digital healthcare
