It’s a fair statement to make that Application Programming Interfaces make our modern web possible. In fact, in 2018, 83% of all web traffic involves some form of an API, with some of the world’s largest brands seeing tens of billions of interactions a day. And yet, once implemented, there’s often little thought given to the management and optimisation of these powerful tools.
Hailing from Zagreb, formerly bootstrapped API monitoring and analytics startup Treblle has raised €1.2 million via Nauta Capital. The company reports that this investment will be used to further expand its development team, and accelerate both the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
Set up in early 2020 by mobile app and website developers Vedran Cindrić and Darko Blaževic, Treblle was established to solve problems the founders themselves had experienced. Working day in-day out with APIs, Cindrić and Blaževic became frustrated with the often manual and time-consuming API management process.
“APIs are everywhere and the number of calls are exploding, causing these manual and repetitive processes to become a bottleneck for teams and organisations,” commented CEO Cindrić.
And, perhaps even more concerning, Cindrić adds, “We also noticed that many clients didn’t fully understand what the APIs were, how they worked, how they were being used, and what data was being sent back and forth.”
Employing a developer community-focused approach, Treble has seen over two million API requests from some 400+ API endpoints, automatically generating more than 3,000 versions of documentation, and saved developers untold hours of debugging.
On the investment, Nauta Capital's Pratima Aiyagari commented, "The team has created a solution for one of the top three problems in the API market. Their vision is to build a business that is at the forefront of the API-led digital revolution."
