It seems like you can’t swing a dead cat these days without running into an AI-powered application that hasn’t beaten you to the beating first. And now, when it comes to inspecting those turbines that are keeping you in the air mid-flight has its own AI-powered helper.
In so much, Amsterdam-based Aiir Innovations has raised €2.1 million in an oversubscribed investment round, led by Borski Fund, with the participation of HearstLab Europe and existing shareholder Mainport Innovation Fund.
“Ensuring jet engines are inspected completely and objectively is key to ensuring the safety and efficiency of aircraft. Aiir achieves this by actively supporting human inspectors in all aspects of the job, from managing reporting requirements to an AI assistant for detecting potentially missed defects,” says CTO and co-founder Miriam Huijser.
According to the Aiir, they’re already employing their solutions with companies including KLM Airlines, Waygate Technologies and MTU Leasing Services, and undisclosed others. The company was selected for the Boeing-supported Aerospace Xelerated program and won the Lufthansa Technik Philippines Startup Challenge.
The fresh €2.1 million will be used to grow the remote-first team as well as ramp up international expansion plans.
