Seedcamp's sixth session secures $180 million

London-based VC firm Seedcamp has announced the close of its sixth fund at $180 million. The hexa-iteration will continue to bear Seedcamp’s signature early-stage, pan-European, sector-agnostic torch, and allow the fund to lead rounds ranging from angel and seed rounds with ticket sizes up to $1 million, as well as reserving a portion for follow on rounds up to Series B.

At this point, London’s Seedcamp has pretty much enshrined its place in the history of the European startup scene in the early half of the 21st century. Some 15 years in operation now, the firm counts over 460 companies, including nine unicorns, UiPath (IPO), Wise (IPO), Sorare, Revolut, Viz.ai, Pleo, wefox, Hopin, and Grover, amongst its portfolio, with co-founder and Managing Partner Reshma Sohoni, alongside Managing Partner Carlos Espinal, and Partners Tom Wilson and Sia Houchangnia still running the ship.

And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!” - Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Clearly showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, Seedcamp’s sixth fund is near twice the size of its predecessor $180 million and $95 million, respectively, and backed by not only the usual suspects of institutional investors including LGT, Reference Capital, Harbourvest, and Legal & General, but perhaps more importantly, and a clear stamp of approval of their ways and means, angel investors such as Michael Pennington (Gumtree), Will Neale (Grabyo), Paul Forster (Indeed), Ilkka Paananen (Supercell), Shakil Khan (Prima Materia), Kärt Siilats (GoBeyondCapital). And now for the icing, Seedcamp alumni including Taavet Hinrikus (Wise), Daniel Dines (UiPath), Jeppe Rindom (Pleo), and Johnny Boufarhat (Hopin).

“When we started out 15 years ago, we said Europe needed access to capital, basic knowledge on company building, and role models,” said Founding Partner Reshma Sohoni. “Today, Europe’s needs have matured significantly, and it’s now all about speed, coverage, and quality, something we pride ourselves on at Seedcamp and that we know resonates with both our Founders and LPs.”
